My Profile
My Profile
The My Profile page at /profile lets you view your account information,
get a new password, and update your display timezone. Access this page from the
user menu in the navigation bar after logging in.
Viewing Your Information
The profile page loads your personal details via the API at
GET /api/v1/profile/. This returns your name, email, assigned coding
languages, and current timezone. Coding languages are assigned by your data
manager or administrator; you cannot change them yourself.
Getting a New Password
Nobody chooses their own password. The "Password" card on the profile page has a Generate a new password button. If you signed in more than ten minutes ago, enter your current password first. If your account has a verified email, the new password is emailed to you; otherwise it is shown once on the page. Either way your old password stops working and you sign in again.
First Login: Terms and Conditions
When you sign in for the first time, and again after every password reset, you must accept the terms and conditions before reaching your dashboard. This page only asks for that acceptance; it does not change your password.
This happens when your account has not yet accepted the terms (tracked by the
pw_reset_t_and_c flag). The system redirects you to the
Terms & Conditions page at
/profile/force-password-change, where you must:
- Read the terms and conditions, which cover data confidentiality and responsible use
- Check the box to confirm agreement
- Click "Continue" to proceed to your dashboard
Once accepted, you will not be prompted again. The acceptance is recorded on your account.
Time Zone
The profile page lets you set your preferred time zone. All timestamps displayed in the system (submission dates, coding times, sync times) will be shown in your chosen time zone.
Timezone changes are submitted via PATCH /api/v1/profile/timezone. The
default timezone is Asia/Kolkata. You can select from the standard IANA timezone
database.
Viewing Your Assigned Roles and Scopes
Your active grants (role assignments to specific projects and sites) determine what you can see and do in DigitVA. These grants are managed by administrators or project PIs through the access grants panel.
To understand your access:
- Your role (coder, reviewer, data manager, site PI, project PI, admin) determines which pages and actions are available to you
- Your scope (which projects and sites) determines whose data you can access within those pages
- If you cannot see a project or site you expect, contact your administrator to verify your grant is active and scoped correctly
For a detailed breakdown of each role and its permissions, see User Roles & Permissions.
